As I may have mentioned a time or two, interesting people show up at my Birthday parties. A few years ago, the Smashing Pumpkin's guitarist Ginger Pooley showed up with a bottle of Cristal Champagne. This year Justin Furstenfeld from Blue October came with a good bottle of red. It was a real treat meeting him - he's a class act - and I enjoyed showing him around my house. It seems we have a lot of things in common - other than his superior musical talents of course. Anyhow - I was invited to the Moody Theatre in Austin with some friends as his guests and managed a press pass and we made an appearance at an after party back stage. What a great band - true musical troubadours. Here, Justin poses with my pal, Texas State graduate Chris Moor.
Living in or worrying about the past, or about something once done that you could have done better is a useless endeavor - for no amount of energy can change the past. The future is still to unfold and may never be, and so waiting today in anticipation of something tomorrow is just as fruitless as is your lamenting the past. Our only time to truly live is in the present - this moment - and to do all that is doable.
